Dear Adelphi Graduate:

Patricia Mitchell and alumnus
Patricia Mitchell, Director - Center for Career Development, with Elizabeth Boyd, '01
Welcome to the Center for Career Development Web site. We hope you find this a convenient way to learn about all of our services and resources and plan your attendance at events by selecting workshops and seminars from the Career Calendar (PDF 146KB). In addition, you can access our job listings online by using the new MonsterTRAK system.

As an alumnus of Adelphi, you are eligible to take part in our annual On-Campus Recruitment Programs. You should review the On-Campus Recruitment updates to make sure that you do not miss any important deadlines. As you prepare to search for a part-time job or permanent full-time job or to make a career change, you will find much useful information in the following sections:

Individual counseling is also available by appointment, and is unlimited for six months after graduation. After that time, you are entitled to two free private appointments. Additional appointments, which are rarely needed, are fee-based. We look forward to welcoming you back to the Center for Career Development in Post Hall!

Sincerely,
The Center for Career Development Counseling Staff

Alumni Career Network
The Alumni Career Network provides Adelphi University alumni with the opportunity to continue their connection to Adelphi. The Network allows participants to keep in touch with former professors and friends while helping current students prepare for their futures. Please contact us at 516.877.3130 if you wish to help current students in any of the following ways:

---
Mentoring
You can become an important part of students' learning here at Adelphi by creating an ongoing relationship or, if your time is more limited, by being available for a single informational interview in person or by phone.

---
Shadowing
Spending a day with someone on the job can teach a student a great deal about an occupation or industry, and help inspire or clarify a career goal.

---
Internships
You can become an important part of a student's future career success by offering internship opportunities to current students or recent graduates. Internships are a wonderful way to introduce a student to a possible career while building his/her resume.

---
Recruiting
If you are in a position to recruit new employees and you would like to meet candidates with education and training similar to yours, you may want to interview Adelphi seniors and graduate students.

---
Speakers' Bureau
Alumni are sometimes needed to visit classes, clubs or career events to make presentations about their careers.

---
Informational Interviews
As a professional, you understand the importance of thorough research before making any important decisions. Informational interviews serve as an opportunity to pair you with a student who has expressed interest in your field so that you can discuss the industry, job requirements, and any advice you would give to someone about to start a career.

---
Networking Events
We all know that networking plays a major role in filling the vast majority of jobs. We may call upon you to help us teach students networking skills and the importance of developing professional contacts.

---
Adelphi Alumni On-line Community
