Recognition Awards

recognition-awardRecognizing student achievement is at the heart of the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs. The following awards are offered.

President’s Student Leadership Award 

The President’s Student Leadership Award recognizes the extraordinary achievements of Adelphi students. This recognition carries a $1,000 non-renewable award, which will be given to a maximum of four honorees who meet certain criteria.

Parent Association Senior Award

The Parents Association Senior Award recognizes graduating undergraduates who have demonstrated superior growth in the areas of citizenship, leadership and scholarship. First place receives $1,000. Applicants must be graduating seniors who will graduate by August semester of the year they apply for this award.  Applications are reviewed by the Parents Association, and qualified applicants are contacted for an interview. The award is presented at the Parent Senior Dinner, which is generally scheduled the evening prior to Commencement.

Parent Recognition Award

A Parent Recognition Award is given to one parent/guardian of a graduating senior. The student nominates a parent or guardian who has greatly impacted that student’s college career toward successful completion. Applications are available the beginning of the spring semester, and award is based on the strength of the student’s essay about the nominee. The Parent Recognition Award is presented at the Parent Senior Dinner.

Women’s Recognition Award

Each year, the Student Government Association (S.G.A.) recognizes several outstanding women whose leadership, service, and commitment to excellence benefit and inspire the members of the Adelphi Community. SGA recognizes students, faculty, staff, and administrators who exemplify these characteristics.

The Outstanding First Year Student Award

The Outstanding First Year Student Award, sponsored by the First Year Experience Committee, honors an undergraduate first year student who has demonstrated:

  • Academic excellence
  • Community/Campus involvement
  • Strong leadership

The First Year Community Reads Award, sponsored by the First Year Experience Committee, honors an undergraduate first year student with an outstanding response to the AU Reads selection.
