For many of Adelphi's students who have become accustomed to midnight egg sandwiches, this semester's delay in the opening of the Post Hall Convenience Store is turning into an enormous inconvenience.
The renovations, which began one week prior to Winter Break, were undertaken to redesign the configuration of the convenience store. "It's totally different says Post Hall Manager Joe Ganon. The Grill and the Convenience Store have been separated, and both will maintain late night hours. Lackman Catering Services IS also planning to expand the selection of goods offered in the C-Store. "We're looking to cater to what all of our students are looking for," Ganon says.
The feelings around campus on the delayed opening vary. Junior Carly Russell explains, "I have a lot of classes in Post Hall, so the delay affects me. It hasn't been so bad yet, but I want [the C-Store] to open soon."
It is also a problem for some of Adelphi's student athletes. Kathy Rivera, a sophomore member of the Cheerleading Team, scrunches her brow in frustration. "I usually have practice from 6-9pm and now when I get out there is nothing open so it's hard to eat dinner."
The renovations are expected to be finished within the next two to three weeks. Also, some items from the C-Store are available for students to purchase through order forms made available at Sbarros. And, while students may have to wait another few weeks, signs posted throughout Post Hall promise that the C-Store will be new and improved.
