The Main Event

by "Hotstuff" Tom Anthony

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the moment you've all been waiting for! It's time once again for the most read, the most incredible and the most extreme article ever to grace the pages of the Delphian. It's time for the Main Event!

The Hardcore Revolution Has Found A Home

Ok everybody, it's time to start your ECW chants loud and proud for the last time. Come on don't be shy. Ok then, would you rather just watch the World Wrestling Federation to see what remains of the most violent, the most controversial, the most extreme wrestling in the world today? Paul Heyman, who is the owner of Extreme Championship Wrestling, has been added to the broadcast team on the WWF's Raw is War on Monday nights. This comes after the controversial and questionable situation that led Jerry "the King" Lawler to quit his position with the WWF, leaving an opening for a color commentator. Heyman has not "officially" signed with the world Wrestling Federation but sources say that the WWF is extremely pleased with his work the past two weeks on Raw and would like to have him full time as Heyman brings a sense of excitement that Lawler never did. Paul Heyman has also been involved in the WWF's production and creativity meetings the last couple of weeks and has been heavily involved in booking the f inishes to the matches on Raw and Smackdown. As far as ECW goes, Heyman hasn't signed the papers officially terminating the company's existence yet, but his lawyers believe that it will happen soon. As far as the last remaining ECW wrestlers who have yet to look for work with either the WWF or WCW, the fact that Paul Heyman is working with the WWF will give some of them a better chance of getting signed by Vince McMahon.

Ok, Now What?

So for now it appears that the WWF has their broadcasting problems for Mondays all straightened out, but what about Thursdays? Tazz has been temporarily added to the broadcast team along side Michael Cole but the WWF is not happy with their work on Smackdown at all In fact, the WWF believed that the announcing was so bad for the March 8th edition of Smackdown they were considering putting the two into a studio to overdub new commentary onto the show before it aired. Rumor has it (and this is definitely a rumor) that the WWF has been in contact with none other than former WWF and WCW announcer Bobby "the Brain" Heenan to fill the void on Thursday's.

Big Time Tid-Bits

Shane McMahon, son of Vince McMahon, made his long awaited return in front of WWF cameras and attacked his father in defense of his mother, Vince's wife, Linda. From what I'm hearing we will see Vince McMahon vs. Shane McMahon at Wrestlemania X-Seven (that should be interesting). The rumored in ring return of Shawn Michaels will not be taking place at the Houston Astrodome at Wrestlemania. Though he has been working out regularly, sources say that it will still be awhile before The Heartbreak Kid will be able to wrestle. Look for Shawn Michaels to be either a guest referee or have some involvement in the big event. Crowbar, a.k.a. Devon Storm, was given his release from World Championship Wrestling. There has yet to be word as to why Crowbar was let go by WCW but the WWF has heavy interest in him and may sign Crowbar soon. "The Innovator of Violence" Tommy Dreamer was on a Boston radio station (107.3 WAAF for all you Massholes) last week and he said that he has a contract for the WWF for him to sign.

He also said that he will not sign it until ECW is officially out of business so, in other words, in less than a month Dreamer should be a member of the WWF roster.

Enough Of This, Let's Talk About Me!

In four days, March 25th, the next Elite Wrestling Alliance show, High Velocity, will be taking place at the Sons of Italy in Woburn, Massachusetts. I will be once again teaming with The Machine as we compete in a four corners, elimination tag team match to determine the number one contenders for the EWA tag team titles. This match is in jeopardy, however, as one of the teams involved in the match has lost a man. Kamikaze was supposed to team with Casa Nova but just a few days ago the EWA fired Nova, a.k.a. Bryan Nadeau for remarks he made concerning EWA policies. It's probably for the best as The Machine and I would have eliminated those two quickly.

Thank You!

Recently my good friend and manager Cheri, who many of you know as Erin Hadley, was let go by the Bob Evans who runs EWA. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Erin for being there for me, the shows won't be the same without you! Thank you, Erin! Until next time go to http://www.ewaonline.org for more.
