Adelphi Does Broadway

by Pamela Malchuk

Once again, the Adelphi Music Department demonstrated the outstanding talents of Adelphi students.

The University Center Ballroom was filled with a variety of people: Family members, faculty, and students. "Ladies Night on Broadway, A Musical Revue," combined beauty, harmony, strength, and laughter, put together in a perfectly planned program, under the direction of Michael Hume. The review included songs from Funny Girl, Aida, and several other Broadway and Off-Broadway successes. Sixteen students, who worked hard to make this show another great presentation of the Music Department, formed the cast.

Though each song showcased the immense talents of each student, there were some performances that left the audience astonished.

One of these outstanding singers was Christine Schnider, who delighted the audience with her incredible performance of the songs "Bill" from Show Boat and "My New Philosophy" from You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown.

Another of the many great performances was "I Can Do Better Than That" from The Last 5 Years, sung by Megan Lohne, who used her talents as an actress, as well as her incredible voice, to make the show a complete success.

Sara Michelle Bickweat showed what Broadway is all about during her rendition of "You Can Always Count on Me," from City of Angels, by balancing amazing vocals with presence on stage.

Kerry Mulligan made the audience laugh and enjoy this wonderful show with the song "Don't Rain on My Parade" from Funny Girl.
