"The Most Fabulous Story Told" by Paul Rudnick is surely one you will remember. The fine people of the Adelphi Performing Arts performed it brilliantly. Filled with witty humor, satire, guys kissing, and guys wearing next to nothing the play not only tickles one's funny bone, but also delivers a message.
It starts out in the Garden of Eden with Adam (Adam Lendermon) and Steve (Justin Perez). A new twist on the age old (although it is way past age old) story of Adam and Eve, here gay couples are the rule. Guided by their female friends Jane (Kerry Mulligan) and Mabel (Amanda Abbott) the pair go on a journey of spiritual discovery. They are helped by priests, ordinary people, Egyptian pharoahs, and animals, characters played adeptly by Lessard, Joseph Farranda, Madelena Ryerson, and Eileen Shellhorn. In the course of their journey, they, of course, find God.
In short Black Box 2 was about spiritual enlightenment. It shows us that, even though we may not be 100% open, we are all God's creations. We may be different, but in God's eyes we are all the same. One needs not be straight to love God and for God to love him.
The laughter kept audience members rolling in their seats. The acting was brilliant, with all performers showing star personality. This group has life, and heart.
