It's that time of year again, when grades become our masters and we become their slaves. This issue, the Delphian decided that it was time to turn the tables, and instead of students getting graded, it's the students that did the grading!
Technicalities: This poll was based on responses by 143 Adelphi students. Students were asked to grade the categories based on quality and experience. The highest number of votes, excluding "not applicable," determined the grade. Pluses or minuses were to the categories whose second highest grade was more than five votes removed from the third highest vote. The results, then, are as follows:
| Courses |
B |
| Professors |
B |
| Health |
B- |
| Campus Environment |
B |
| Recreation |
C+ |
| Residence Life |
B- |
| Food Services |
D-/F |
| Library |
B+ |
| Clubs |
B- |
| Greek Life |
F |
Comments:
Courses - "Could offer more times for courses rather than set times for departments."
Professors - "Art teachers are great!"
Health Services - "They sent me to the wrong hospital and wouldn't pay for the cab."
Campus Environment - "...parking availability is not good!"
Recreation - "...needs more hours open like the gym on weekends...should open earlier."
Residence Life - "The campus is too quiet. We need some more entertainment to get students more involved."
Food Services - "Food needs help! Give food better quality! Lower prices!"
Library - "Library staff needs attitude adjustment."
Clubs - "They just all seem so exclusive!"
Greek Life - "...can be annoying and too loud."

| Interpretation: Apparently, a lot of AU students think that much of what defines Adelphi does not apply to them - only two categories (Courses and Professors) did not receive N/A (not applicable) votes. The three categories that least apply to students are, in order, Greek Life, Residence Life, and Health Services. Also, around 20% of polled students do not find recreation and clubs applicable to their Adelphi lives. The library received the highest grade, a B+, while Food Services and Greek Life battled for the last place, F. However, it is noteworthy that only 37 people gave Greek Life a letter grade, while 131 people graded Food Services (in both cases, this excludes N/A votes). Food Services also got the award for the classification that received the least As (only two votes) while the Library got the highest number of A-letter grades of any category (35 votes). |
