Sullivan Selected to Participate in 2004 Adidas MLS Player Combine

Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi senior defender Gary Sullivan has been selected to participate in the 2004 adidas Major League Soccer (MLS) Player Combine, which will feature the top SuperDraft prospects. The adidas MLS Player Combine will be held at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California from Sunday January 11 to Tuesday January 13. MLS general managers and members of all 10 coaching staffs will be in attendance during the event, which is open to the public.
The MLS has invited 54 collegiate players (49 from Division I, two from Division II, two from Division III and one from the NAIA) to participate in the player combine so that the coaching staffs and management from all 10 teams can scout the top prospects before the 2004 MLS SuperDraft. The players have been divided into four squads and will compete in a round-robin tournament during the three day event.
Of the first thirty players selected in last years SuperDraft, only five were not in attendance at the 2003 adidas MLS Player Combine. The 2004 SuperDraft will take place on Friday January 16th at the Charlotte Convention Center (10:00 am - 2:00 pm ET).
Sullivan anchored the Adelphi defense this season, guiding the panthers to a record of 8-6-3, Sullivan finished the season with five points (2G, 1A). Sullivan made 71 starts during his four year career for at Adelphi and scored six goals to go along with four assists (16 pts). Sullivan is a three-time all-conference selection (Atlantic Soccer Conference), two-time all-New York selection and a 2003 M.A.C. Hermann Trophy nominee.
