Student Government Association (S.G.A.) |
The Student Government Association is the primary representative body of the undergraduate students at Adelphi University. The S.G.A. serves as the voice of the students and dedicates itself to bringing their questions and concerns to the University Administration and works in conjunction with them to ensure the basic needs and best interests of the student body are being met.
The students elected to serve as members of the S.G.A. comprise three different branches: executive, legislative and judicial.
- The Executive Branch: S.G.A. Cabinet
In charged with overseeing the Student Senate and Student Court, and making sure all University policies are being upheld. We meet weekly with various administrators from the President of the University to the Director of the Center for Student Involvement to ensure every office, as well as ourselves, are always kept abreast of the University and student activities, and then bring this information back to the Senate. The Cabinet also serves as the primary liaison for the Administration and the Student Court.
-
The Legislative Branch: Student Senate
The senate makes up the largest portion of the S.G.A. The Senate encompasses a representative from every constituency on campus: residence halls, commuters, academic schools, and each of the four classes. The Senate now also includes representatives from the Student Activities Board, the Student Athletic Advisory Council, U.M.O.J.A., and two Parent, Faculty and Alumni Representatives.
- The Judicial Branch: Student Court
The court hears any and all appeals to any decisions made by the Senate or the Cabinet brought to it by students or organizations.
