Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is a national organization whose purpose is to improve the political, educational, social, and economic status of minority groups, to eliminate racial prejudice, and to keep the public aware of the adverse effects of racial discrimination.

The NAACP brings speakers to campus during Black History Month and throughout the semester. Other activities have included an annual awards banquet and a Thanksgiving food drive. The NAACP developed a new program, entitled the "Ms./Mr. NAACP Pageant," to raise funds for scholarships.
