Introduction |
The vision of Adelphi University’s Health and Wellness Peer Education and Mentoring Center is to create a college experience that is positive, safe and healthy for all students at Adelphi to reach their intellectual, psychological, social, cultural and spiritual potential while maintaining their physical health.
The mission of the Center is to deliver holistic health promotion programs and support to Adelphi students through peer mentors. Creating a higher education environment that is supportive and encourages positive health promotion buttresses this mission. The Center is staffed by a diverse group of students and offers opportunities for the individual student and collective student body to grow through a variety of diverse experiences that are challenging, rewarding, and meaningful. Through bio-psycho-social-spiritual-diversity educational workshops and programs, along with a resource center complete with supportive literature, referrals and information on a variety of health, wellness and social issues that impact student health, the Center complements and supports promoting student learning and critical thinking. The Center is supported through a collaborative effort from on- and off-campus members of the community interested in offering help, information and support to Adelphi students.
