The Humanist Chaplain, Dr. Anne Klaeysen, is available to the University community for informal discussions and formal programs, lectures and workshops, meditation and pastoral counseling. She is also clergy at the NY Society for Ethical Culture and the Queens Ethical Humanist Society, as well as a mentor in the Humanist Institute, which offers a 3-year graduate program for educating humanists and training humanist leaders. Programs and activities of the Humanist Chaplaincy focus on practicing ethics as a religion, exploring personal spirituality, and finding common ground with other faith traditions to work together on issues of social justice, peace, and environmental responsibility. Dr. Klaeysen is also available to the Adelphi community for life passage ceremonies, e.g., weddings, commitment ceremonies, baby namings and memorials.
