Office of Residential Life and Housing

Housing Options

Living on campus adds another dimension to the college experience. Adelphi offers student housing in seven residence halls on the Garden City campus: Students may choose from a variety of residential options during the academic year. A limited amount of housing is available over semester breaks. Adelphi also attempts to provide special accommodations to meet the needs of students with disabilities.

The Office of Residential Life and Housing oversees the residence halls, reviews requests for housing, and sponsors programs for residents and the Adelphi community.

Students wishing to live on campus must complete the Residence Hall Agreement. The type of room determines the cost of housing.

Traditional Corridor-Style Living
Rooms line the corridor in Adelphi's residence halls. Students may share one or more bathrooms. Each building is coeducational; however, most floors are separated by gender.

Special Living Options
Students may request a specific housing assignment, based on their interests and academic needs. Students should indicate their choices on the Residence Hall Agreement. Assignments are based on room availability.

The Honors College
The Honors College section of Earle Hall is set up with suites that can accommodate approximately 30 Honors College students. Each suite has a semi-private bath and common living area. Honors College classrooms, study lounges, and computer rooms are also located in Earle Hall.

EXCEL Program
To help students meet the often overwhelming challenges of freshman year, Adelphi created EXCEL—Entering students eXceling through the Contributions of Experienced Leaders. This mentoring program provides freshmen with additional support. Participants live in Eddy Hall and Waldo Hall.

Special Housing Accommodations
University Breaks
Some students may be required to remain on campus during the four-week intersession (winter break). They can only request housing for that period if they are:
  • an international student
  • participating in an internship
  • employed by the University
  • an athlete in season.

Requests will be approved only with an authorized signature from a University official. Additional charges are applied for intersession housing, which may also require relocating for the duration of the winter break.

Summer Housing
One residence hall remains open over the summer. Students enrolled in summer classes may request housing. An additional charge applies for summer housing.
