Student Building Manager |
| Job Description: |
The Student Building Manager is responsible for supervising the operation of the University Center and its various service areas in the absence of professional staff. |
| Qualifications: |
Minimum of one semester's experience in all areas of U.C. operations. Must be in good academic standing per Adelphi codes and carry at least 6 credits. Knowledge of operating policies, procedures, and services. Effective decision making and interpersonal skills. Ability to work with a diverse clientele tactfully and professionally. Must be able to lift tables and chairs to set rooms and to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Honesty and integrity are essential as well as a commitment to the ideals of the College Union program. |
| Supervision Received: |
Works under the direct supervision of the Director and Operations Managers. Supports the professional activities of the Associate Director, Revenue Clerk, and Reservations Coordinator. |
| Supervision Exercised: |
Directs the actions of a student set up and a technical crew of 20. Works in conjunction with the Beverage Service Manager and Student Security staff to maintain a safe and secure environment in the Cyber Café. |
| Responsibilities: |
- assists in hiring, training, and evaluation of staff
- meets with clients to plan events and design room/audio-visual set-ups
- plans, implements, and supervises all room set ups and common area upkeep based upon established standards
- communicates with appropriate professional staff regarding changes to client contracts
- is responsible for opening and securing facility according to established procedures
- maintains familiarity with operation of all audio-visual equipment
- interfaces with Physical Plant to ensure maintenance and cleanliness of facility
- ensures compliance with policies and procedures under emergency situations
- assists the Beverage Service and Student Security staffs in the operation of the Cyber Café
- assists in development of handbooks, manuals, and marketing pieces
- is responsible for the University Center in the absence of the Director, Associate Director, and Operations Managers
- other duties as assigned.
