Academic Accommodations and Adjustments for Students with Disabilities

In order to be eligible for academic accommodations and adjustments, students must submit a completed Petition for Reasonable Accommodations and Academic Adjustments form along with any required documentation of their disability.

Potential academic accommodations include, but are not limited to:

  • Extended time for testing (1.5x allotted amount)
  • Distraction reduced environment for exams
  • Note-taking for lecture-based courses (unless notes provided by instructor through electronic format/Moodle platform)
  • Communication Access Real-Time Translation (CART)
  • Sign Language Interpreters (ASL)
  • Use of assistive listening devices
  • Reasonable flexibility to attendance (all decisions regarding reasonable flexibility to attendance will be reviewed and determined on a case by case basis by the Director of SAO)
  • Adaptive lab equipment or classroom technology
  • Enlarged print for class notes and other materials
  • Required textbooks in alternative format (CD or electronic)
  • Audio record class lectures (all decisions regarding recording of classes will be reviewed and determined on a case by case basis by the Director of SAO)
