There are many great opportunities to participate in residential life on campus. Whether you are looking for a leadership role, want to help plan campus events, or join a prestigious honor society, there’s something for everyone.

Resident Assistants

The Resident Assistant (RA) position is one of the most prestigious leadership roles within the University. These students are highly trained and trusted in enforcing policies and building community within their respective Residence Hall.

RA Responsibilities include

  • Coordinating programming efforts, with an emphasis on community building in all educational activities
  • Promoting a healthy and positive residential community
  • Confronting and documenting disciplinary issues or policy violations
  • Working in a team to develop and implement campus-wide goals and objectives

RAs are compensated with free room and board. Applications are available each fall semester for the following academic year.

Hall Attendants

Hall Attendants are Adelphi students that work in the lobby of each residence hall. Hall Attendants sign-in all visitors entering the residence halls nightly from 6:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. All guests are required to present identification to the Hall Attendant and be met by their host at the door. Hosts are responsible for their guests at all times. The Hall Attendant position is a great way for students to earn extra cash and build their resume.

Interested in applying for a Hall Attendant position?

To become a Hall Attendant, you must submit an application, interview, and participate in a mandatory training session. The selection process takes place during the first week of each Fall semester.

Hall Councils

The Hall Council fosters a firm spirit of leadership and citizenship, provides the cultural, educational and social atmosphere most beneficial to its residents, encourages participation in co-curricular activities, aids the housing administrators in improving living conditions and represents the interests of the hall residents.

Resident Student Association

The Resident Student Association (RSA) is one of the largest student organizations on Adelphi’s campus and is responsible for representing the entire resident student population. The RSA is made up of dedicated resident students who represent each of the seven halls.

The RSA is responsible for:

  • Representing the residents of the halls of Adelphi University in matters of student interest
  • Serving as the communication link between the rinesidents and the Adelphi administration
  • Organizing social, educational and cultural activities.
  • Establishing and organizing hall councils
  • Initiating physical improvements in and around the halls and obtaining equipment for residents
  • Planning various campus events

The RSA meets on a weekly basis announced at the beginning of the semester.

National Residence Hall Honorary

The National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) is an honor society comprised of the top 1% of resident students on Adelphi’s campus. The organization functions under the following pillars:

  • Leadership
  • Scholastics
  • Service
  • Recognition

The purpose of NRHH is to recognize outstanding leadership, service and dedication to the Residence Hall System and the Adelphi community that goes above and beyond the call of duty. One of the organization’s signature event is Recognition Week.

Membership to this organization is exclusive and is decided on a yearly basis.
